KS3 CURRICULUM
At KS3 the History department provides a broad curriculum, exploring a variety of historical eras and topics to encourage pupils to recognise the forces and factors that have shaped our world today.
The department endeavours to provide pupils with the opportunity to engage with history in an active and critical way, enabling them to assess evidence, evaluate conflicting accounts and understand the causes and consequences of change.
Topics Covered at KS3 include:
Year 8 - Term 1: What is History
Term 2: The Coming of the Normans in England
Term 3: The Normans in Ireland
Year 9 - Term 1:The English Reformation
Term 2: The Spanish Armada
Term 3: The plantation of Ireland
Year 10 - Term 1: 20th Century turning points
Term 2: The Partition of Ireland
Term 3: Life in Nazi Germany
KS4 CURRICULUM
At KS4 there is one pathway offered by the department:

Unit 1 - Modern World Studies in Depth: Life in Nazi Germany, 1933–45
Local Study: Northern Ireland and its Neighbours, 1965–98
Unit 2 - Outline study: International Relations, 1945–2003
